Dishonest Auto Glass Installation Shortcuts During Windshield Replacement
Windshield replacement is frequently needed because vehicle windshields are routinely damaged by flying debris on the road. Unfortunately, many unscrupulous service providers make dishonest shortcuts during the windshield replacement process. Because of such windshield replacement shortcuts, the windshield may not be properly fitted and fixed. This is dangerous and could be the cause of road accidents.
Windshield replacement should, however, be asked for only when windshield repair is not feasible due to the nature of the damage to the car glass. If the vehicle owner can not bring the vehicle to the service provider, the service provider can provide mobile windshield replacement at any location convenient to the owner.
Dishonest service providers begin the auto glass installation process in windshield replacement with "flush cutting." They slice off the visible part of the old windshield molding and later glue this on the newly installed car glass instead of using brand new molding. In effect, the new windshield has no actual molding but only a facade. Without a genuine new molding the windshield is bound to loosen, vibrate and leak.
Another dishonest shortcut in the auto glass installation process in windshield replacement is "close cutting." The old adhesive is not scraped off from the windshield channel and only a thin veil of new adhesive is laid atop it. The new car glass is, therefore, not bonded properly to the vehicle.
A third dishonest shortcut in the auto glass installation process in windshield replacement is "jumping the cowl." While the proper procedure requires the removal of the lower windshield cowl panel before the new car glass is installed, this is not done at all. The new windshield is, therefore, not positioned properly in the windshield channel.
Finally, dishonest windshield replacement service providers may use substandard car glass. Vehicle owners should demand original equipment manufactured car glass like Pilkington.
With the exposure of the ways in which dishonest windshield replacement shortcuts are done by crooked service providers, vehicle owners should be more wary and watchful so as not to be victimized this way.

No. It has to be another Ford Ranger around the same model year.
You can't just take a windshiel from any Ford and put it in another Ford.
