Can a hybrid white tea rose be used on a trellis frame?
I am looking to grow a white rose on a trellis to cover the walls of a balcony. Would a hybrid white tea climb and give enough of a scent?
How big is the area you want to cover and what sort of sun does it get? Most roses need several hours of direct sun per day to develop and to bloom. What time of year do you want it to bloom - some types of rose just bloom once in the early summer and then perhaps again in the early autumn, others bloom less spectactularly but constantly until the temperature drops below 0.
There are climbing roses such as "pompom de Paris" which are small, but still climbers, with tiny flowers, there are climbing roses which grow up to 30 feet. (rosa banksiae alba)
Tea roses are very hardy but are not generally climbers, nor is their scent particularly fragrant.

I have been interested in roses for the last couple of years and have discovered that, where I am in France, some of the most interesting roses are to be found over the net! I don't know where you are but a little research on the net will surely lead you to a specialist rose grower/producer near to you. They may even have an "open" day where you can go and see wht they have on offer. I ordered via one such place last year, and found them very happy to give good advice on types of roses, sun etc. Good luck!
