The black man with umbrella and hat?

a young person i know was sick and nearly passing away and then he saw standing beside his bad a very tall man, completely black, with a hat like in the 19th century and with an umbrella with him. and the man bowed in front of the suffering person and left the room. This young person survived and he wasn't the only one who's seen THE MAN WITH THE UMBRELLA....the boy thought it wasn't his time to die,that's why that entity or whatever it was bowed in front of him. this strange appearance is also present in the "XXX Holic" anime, where paranormal activities are happening. I wonder if anyone of you had seen this black man too...
