TaylorMade R9 Irons specs

The R9 Irons feature an innovative shock absorption system in the longer irons, which utilizes a Soft Feel Foam within the cavity, that is then covered with this multi-material badge. And, behind the sweet spot of the face lies a Localized Silicone Shock Absorber which dampens vibrations and provides a really great feel when you strike the ball.

The R9's feature an ultra thin 2.0mm face that actually wraps around the top line, and it flexes at impact. It is suppose to act like a driver face in that it flexes and gives you great distance. You can see here where it wraps around the top line. This is a nice, thin, hot face.

The R9's feature a beveled sole on the trailing edge which helps turf interaction and resists digging when you strike the ball. You can see that they are fairly wide, so they have this nice deep cavity as well as the Inverted Cone Technology on the face. So, these are great irons that are really forgiving, and are meant to provide forgiveness, distance, and accuracy.

TaylorMade R9 Driver Review

The  TaylorMade R9 driver is labeled as the ultimate in adjustability with a claimed 75 yards in left to right movement.  The R9 is approximately 420cc in size vs. the industry standard of 460cc's.  In theory this should mean a less forgiving head that is suited towards better players.  Because the R9 has 8 different holsel positions which change the angle of the face, as well as 3 different weight settings which change the center of gravity, the driver can be optimized to fit anybody's swing, low to high handicapped players

The R9 is a very predictable driver that can be customized to individual swings.  If a person has trouble closing the face an impact resulting in a push or a slice, then the face angle as well as the center of gravity can be adjusted to correct for swing flaws.  The head felt good, sounded good, and looked good.  I was extremely pleased with how the R9 performed on our TrackMan launch monitor, and it met or exceeded all of my expectations.  There are only a couple of downfalls to this driver: 1) The 420cc sized head isn't as forgiving as a 460cc head, even with all of the adjustability.  TaylorMade has release a 460cc version with the adjustable hosel, but without the adjustable weights for the person who does need the extra forgiveness. and 2) An individual who buys the driver without being properly fit may not know how to adjust the club, or what setting they may need.  An individual may get frustrated because the driver may not perform up to its potential because it's not fit properly.  This is a great driver that will fit the majority of players, but remember the most important aspect when buying a club……GET FIT!!

TaylorMade R9 Fairway Wood

The Taylor Made R9 fairway wood offers a new degree of customization, in the Flight Control Technology that allows golfers to literally set up their club to meet any course or swing demand in just seconds.

This is accomplished by rotating the metallic sleeve positioned over the tip of the shaft. The sleeve can be rotated into eight different positions, each of which has a different loft, lie and face angle. All a golfer has to do is to loosen the FTC bolt with the provided wrench, shift the shaft to the desired position, and then tighten the screw again. The total side-to-side trajectory change can be up to 35 yards, a significant window that allows players to hit their targets more accurately.

The TaylorMade R9 fairway wood is less triangular than other Taylor Made models, and has a more classic look that also has a low center of gravity and ideal launch conditions. It has greater stability than the previous model it's based on, the Taylor Made R7, and also adds a new sole design that is more rounded to reduce contact with the turf.

Taylormade 09 Rescue

The Rescue '09 is the follow up to the previous rescue hybrid that was released back in 2005.  That club was met with critical praise and much respect, so needless to say the expectations for the '09 were demanding at best.  Overall, the expectations have been met and the golfing world is celebrating yet another hybrid club that is establishing its dominance on courses all over the world.
