If in case your side viewing mirror gets shattered, you need to replace the entire mirror. This is definitely a costly thing but there is a cheaper alternative wherein you need to replace the glass only. Doing this you can save a substantial amount of money. Let's read on and find the procedure for auto side mirror's glass replacement. First and foremost, you need to purchase a new mirror glass. Before purchasing the glass, you need to check the dimensions and accordingly need to choose the glass. You must ensure that it has the right dimensions so that it fits perfectly in the old mirror. There are various online hardware stores which are offering auto mirrors, simply order from them. It is a hassle-free and less time consuming process. Another thing that you need while replacing the glass is the adhesive which will stick the new glass in place. Once you are ready with the essential ingredients, wear gloves and eye protection while removing the remaining glass pieces in the smashed mirror. If need be smash the remaining mirror pieces with a hammer .But be very careful, don't damage the surface of mirror panel while doing so. Then spread evenly the adhesive on the back of the mirror and stick it into the vacant mirror panel and hold it that way for some minutes. This makes the process complete. Now you are ready to drive again.

i cannot see how to remove the door panel at all please help
On most older cars from the 60's & 70's, door panels are held in place by exposed screws, usually they are chrome (like on my 62 chevy) but if you cant find any exposed hardware, then possibly the panels are held by blind clips that snap into the door. Carefully try to lift the panel at the lower corner to see if you can un-snap the clip. Also the arm-rest adds in holding the panel in place, so dont forget to check the arm-rest for screws too.
