Spring and Summer trends 2010
Fashion tips for the larger ladies…
Ok so you are not a size 10. That doesn't mean that you have to resort to baggy tops and flowing skirts. More and more retailers are now offering a choice of fashion wear that helps to flatter or heighten curvaceous frames in all the right areas, leaving you feeling confident and sexy in no time at all.
Help to make 2010's summer wardrobe a huge success by understanding and acknowledging your individual shape. Look in the mirror and see your silhouette – what are your sexy features? – Large breasts; curvaceous bum; long legs; sexy neck?
Whatever it is, take full advantage and use it wisely. Summer is coming and you mustn't be afraid to flash that flesh.
Key trends for Spring/Summer:
♥ Grey – the new black
♥ Khaki, earth tones- olives, warm reds, beige, nude tones
♥ Tribal, graphic prints
♥ Floral prints
Larger women don't need to think they need to stick to one or two styles in their wardrobes, the fashion industry is becoming more accessible to the larger lady so don't be afraid to experiment and try different styles. Just follow the basic rules below.
♥ As a general rule, body shaping underwear is a key item in your wardrobe, a properly fitting bra can make or break an outfit, and body shaping underwear can be used to great effect in creating a smoother silhouette.
♥ Also, a general rule is that light tops with dark bottoms emphasise your bust, while dark tops with light bottoms draw attention away from the bust.
Apple shaped women (with a rounder figure)
♥ Jackets/coats: Go for a khaki or military style jacket, olive, khaki colours are right on trend. Larger busted ladies should avoid double breasting on jackets as this draws attention to your larger bust.
♥ Tops: Wide V-necked tops are great, wrap over tops that clinch at the waist also work really well as they make the top half look slimmer, and have a narrowing effect, as well as accentuating the smallest part of your figure.
♥ Vibrant tribal design V-neck or wrap tops teamed with a pair of straight leg trousers is a good look.
♥ Floral prints are, again, a big trend for spring/summer, but try to keep the print larger as smaller prints can fill out a curvier frame. Bigger, bolder prints balance out proportions.
♥ Maxi dresses are great, try a floral print in a floaty fabric, that flows from the bust straight down, skimming over problem areas. Team with chunky jewellery and wedge sandals for a perfect summer look.
♥ Wide (but not too wide!) leg trousers that sit with a slightly higher waistband, teamed with nude, romantic coloured tops and delicate gold jewellery creates a flattering, smart casual look, ideal for work.
♥ Ladies that are smaller on top than on bottom should use detailed necklines and chunky accessories to draw the eye towards the neckline and away from the bottom half.
Don'ts for larger figures:
♥ Avoid stripes-horizontal or vertical.
♥ Small floral prints- will draw attention to problem areas.
♥ Baggy tops- although many women believe they hide a bigger tummy they infact make the tummy area look bigger, focus instead on cinching at the waist to accentuate the smallest part.
Do's for larger figures:
♥ Vibrant wedge sandals are band on trend, as are mid heels; they draw attention away from hips and thighs.
♥ Bold, large floral prints bring a stylish look to your outfit
♥ V-necks- lengthen the neckline, minimise the chest and shoulders.
Accessorising:
♥ Accessories are open to all shapes and sizes, so don't be afraid to pile the accessories on! Tribal, ethnic style jewellery is in at the moment.
♥ Just remember- if you are bigger on top, its best to keep your neckline simple and uncluttered, instead accessorise with chunky bangles.
♥ Whereas if your smaller on top you can use chunky necklaces to draw attention to your bust.
So stick to these simple rules and you will soon feel your confidence grow.
