Are the Oakley Flak Jacket XLJ Sunglasses Any Good?
If you are looking for the top of the line when it comes to eyewear, then look no further than the Oakley brand. The Oakley Flak Jacket sunglasses are the preferred sunglasses of sports professionals around the world. When you need sunglasses that are going to perform at a high level, then the Flak Jacket is the right pair for you.
Unique and Sylish Design
The XLJ Flak Jacket Sunglasses feature lenses that are slightly larger lens than the standard Flak Jacket to give you more protection from the sun's nasty rays. If you're trail running and you need greater visual contrast, swap out the Flak Jacket's lenses to suit your lighting conditions in a matter of seconds. Unobtanium rubber temples and nosepiece get grippier as you sweat to keep your glasses comfortably snug on your head. When your sporting endeavors take you into less-than-favorable conditions, Oakley's hydrophobic lens coating repels water, oils, and even dust.
Beyond just looking good, Oakley carefully engineers this style to maximise comfort and give it a great fit. No athlete or other wearer wants to fuss with a pair of sunglasses that is ill-fitting, either pinching or sliding off your face at inconvenient times. The semi-rimless design ensures your field of vision is never obscured, particularly when looking downward, which can happen with other models of sunglasses. Oakley wearers expect a premium sunglass product that fits snugly and stays in place, allowing you to forget you are even wearing the Oakley Flak Jacket sunglasses.
Oakley Flak Jacket XLJ Review
I used to think Oakley's were all hype. I stuck with the cheap ones. But the frames didn't last long, they weren't comfortable, or the clarity and durability of the lens wasn't good.
I saw a deal I couldn't pass up and gave Oakley a try. Best sunglasses I've ever owned. Comfortable, I can wear them all day without noticing them. Clarity is awesome. I'm not sure if I can fairly access the durability issue since I kind of baby the Oakley's when I'm not wearing them since they're so expensive. XL J's give good coverage without being too big.

Are the lenses on Oakley's Half Jacket XLJ's Polarized different from regular lenses?
I am planning on getting dark sunglasses, preferably Oakley's Half Jacket XLJ's.. The thing is, I am considering buying regular XLJ's instead of Polarized lenses because I am a pilot and I heard that Polarized messes with flight instruments.
So my question is, are the lenses on the regular kind any lighter than the Polarized lenses?
YOu are correct. Polarization in a lens cuts glare, but for pilots, it's not that great. Your instruments usually already have a polarization film on them. So if you look at them with a polarized lens, you will see a ton of wavy lines, a red/brown hue, or you may see nothing at all. Furthermore, I've had it explained to me that it's helpful to be able to see glare/the glint of sun bouncing off of other aircraft when you're up in the air. Polarized lenses tend to mimimize this effect.
So, if you want a dark lens in the XLJ lens shape- then go with the Black Iridium XLJ. Black Iridium is Oakley's darkest tint, and the iridium coating has a bit of anti-reflective properties, but not like polarization.
