LED visor lights - giving you illumination where you need it most
Visor lights are probably not something you have seen a lot of, as they are a relatively new thing in the emergency lighting world. However, you will start seeing the visor lights on more and more vehicles, as they are effective safety measures as well as being very bright illuminating light. LED Visor lights fit in most vehicles and can be mounted by straps to the visor and by suction cups. The LED Visor lights when in operation with a lightbar on top of a vehicle give an immense amount of light and it is very difficult to ignore it.
The added safety and the illumination means the LED Visor lights are now becoming very popular with law enforcement agencies. If you do see such lights reflected in your rear view mirror, you would do well to pull over immediately! Emergency vehicle lighting is crucial and there will be no vehicles used without such lighting. There are instances where vehicles wish to remain anonymous until the last moment such as under cover vehicles, and the visor lights are ideal. The visor light when not switched on is virtually invisible from outside the vehicle and therefore the stealth is maintained.
The LED Visor lights as well as having different mounting options can have different power options. They can be wired in permanently to the vehicles electrics or as most will use them plugged into the cigarette lighter. Don't be fooled into thinking the visor light wouldn't have many options as they have. There are units, which have take down lights, various different color combinations and many different flash patterns. Therefore, whatever you need from a visor light is sure to be available. There may be instances where less lighting is more appropriate and the visor light can illuminate smaller areas outside the vehicle if necessary.
As with under cover vehicles there are situations where police officers don't want their vehicles to be highly visible and lit up like a power station. Sometimes a vehicle needs to blend in more rather than draw attention to the fact it is there. The LED Visor lights give that option, as they can't be seen clearly when not in operational mode. An unlit vehicle on a dark street will look like any other vehicle around and won't stand out, and sometimes police officers need this anonymity to protect themselves and the public. The beauty of a visor light is it can remain invisible until you need it to be seen and then wow, it is on and very visible.
Any lighting on emergency vehicles has a distinct and very specific purpose and most of them are to provide advance warning. We often come upon fire, police and medical vehicles at the scene of road traffic accidents and many of those will have a variation on the LED Visor lights. Too much lighting at such scenes can distract road users so the light from visor lights is ideal in these kinds of situations where light is needed but not so much it becomes dangerous.
