Yesterday US PGA
Tour announced that they will put another rule on golf. That's to say grooves
on irons will be forbidden. This rule has added the difficulty for playing
golf. Various people have various opinions on this matter.
Tiger Woods, a
super golfer is looking embraced the rule with delighters. The rule will make it
tougher to spin the golf ball. But it doesn't make much difference as to Tiger
Woods. Actually he was not surprised by the rule either.
US PGA Tour
commissioner Tim Finchem decided to move forward with the change for a US Golf
Association before the deadline. Before
that the nine-member US PGA Tour Policy Board chose not to delay the announcement
of the rule until 2011.
"We don't think
this rule matters very much as for the difficulty of playing golf. We are
comfortable that we can meet the challenges," Finchem said. "I am sure that
delaying at this point in time probably won't do any good towards our interests."
The groove
changes are targeted at making it harder for players to land the ball on the
greens from the rough so that the rule now is limiting the amount of spin on
the ball, helping courses fight becoming obsolete if your skill is good enough.
Woods, a 14-time
major champion, will gain an advantage here. People made this judgment from the
golf techniques of his golf.
"It's great,"
Woods said. "We've had plenty of time to make our adjustments. We've known this
will come over a couple of years ago what this decision was going to be and we
have enough time to adapt to the game. All the companies have been checked by
this rule. Personally, I don't think it is so difficult to play by this rule. "
"it makes me
really delight that I am on the edge of this rule. For to the guys who play
spin golf balls already the rule seems rather harsh. They are going to have to make a bigger
adjustment to the grooves."
He also said
that there were few guys who played a softer ball, and he did play a pretty
soft ball. He should make less of an adjustment than most.
Finchem will
meet with others from other global tours at the British Open to spread the
rule. He wanted it to be international.
Players below
the PGA level would not need conforming equipment for several years to remain
within the rules of golf, there are concern among the manufacturers who believe
that whis rule will cause financial squeeze. The situation is bad enough for
them.
"The new groove
rule does no good to the game and golfers and should be abolished," said PING Inc
chairman and cheif executive
Maybe they
change the rule just because there are some people who are too good at this
